GoHighLevel reviews vs testimonials

Most agencies switch on GoHighLevel's review requests for a new client, watch the Google stars climb, and call it a day as reputation done.

That covers half the job.

Reviews help a client get found but testimonials help a client get chosen.

The first lives on Google while the second has to live on the client's own website, right next to the button you want visitors to press.

The Stack Insiders has a full GoHighLevel reputation management guide covering the review side.

This article covers the other half: what GoHighLevel now does for testimonials, where Famewall fits, and the simple setup you can roll out for every client in about an hour.

Reviews vs testimonials: 2 different jobs

A review is written on a platform someone else owns.

A testimonial is proof you collect, choose and place yourself. Both matter, but they win different moments.

The mistake is treating one as a substitute for the other. About forty 5-star Google reviews will not help much if the booking page itself is a blank form with no proof beside it.

Reviews get a client found. Testimonials get them chosen.

What GoHighLevel's reputation tools already do

GoHighLevel's Reputation section has grown a lot. Here is what one sub-account gets out of the box:

  • Automated review requests by email and SMS, fired from a workflow. HighLevel's own Dental snapshot ships with a ready-made "send review request" workflow triggered when a deal is marked Won.
  • Google Business Profile and Facebook reviews in one place, with replies handled from the dashboard.
  • Reviews AI, which drafts replies for approval or answers reviews automatically.
  • Review widgets for the client's site including a floating badge and a slider with configurable AI summaries of longer reviews.
  • Video Testimonials, the newest addition. Clients record or upload a video from a branded collector link sent by email, SMS or WhatsApp. Videos run up to 2 minutes 30 seconds, you can ask up to 3 questions, and approved videos show in a review widget (HighLevel help doc).

GoHighLevel review request workflow triggered by a Won deal

A review request workflow in the same demo account: deal marked Won, then an email and SMS review request, then a 3 day wait.

For a client with one GoHighLevel funnel who mainly needs Google stars and a few short video clips, that is enough.

GoHighLevel covers it without another tool. If you are not on GoHighLevel yet, you can start a 30-day free trial through The Stack Insiders and extend it to as long as 58 days if you need more time to test.

Where agencies hit limits is everything around that: written and audio testimonials, praise already sitting on LinkedIn or Trustpilot, client sites that are not built in GoHighLevel, and a proper wall of love page.

Where Famewall fits alongside GoHighLevel

Famewall is built for the testimonial side only, so it goes deeper there.

The 2 tools overlap on video, and that is fine. Use GoHighLevel for reviews and quick video asks, and Famewall for everything the client wants to show off on their site.

Famewall homepage: collect text, video and audio testimonials with one link

One link collects text, video and audio testimonials, and they go on any website as widgets or a wall.

The import point matters more than it looks.

Most established clients already have great feedback scattered across emails, LinkedIn recommendations and old Trustpilot pages.

Pulling that into one wall on day one gives a new client proof before the first GoHighLevel review request has even gone out.

Famewall has a free plan with 10 testimonials, 1 published wall and 1 video testimonial, which is enough to test it on one client. The Agency plan is $149/month, or $1,499/year, for unlimited clients.

Each client gets its own workspace with per-client analytics and team access, and full white-label removes the Famewall branding.

The Agency plan gives every client its own workspace, with its own walls, collection pages and team access.

The setup to roll out for every client

This is the order we would run it in for a new client. The GoHighLevel side takes about 20 minutes if you use a snapshot. The Famewall side takes about the same.

  1. Connect the client's Google Business Profile in Reputation, then set up the review link and a review widget.
  2. Switch on the review request workflow. Trigger it when a deal moves to Won or an appointment is marked completed. Send it to every customer, not only the happy ones. Google's policy bans businesses from choosing to "selectively solicit positive reviews".
  3. Create a Famewall collection page for the client, in their colours, with 2 or 3 prompts that pull out specifics: what problem they had, what changed, and a number if they have one.
  4. Import what already exists. Pull in LinkedIn recommendations, Trustpilot reviews and old emails so the client's wall is full on day one.
  5. Ask for testimonials as a separate, personal step. A good moment is after a project milestone or a strong result, sent by the account manager rather than a robot. Testimonials for your own site can be hand picked while google reviews cannot.
  6. Embed the wall on the client's GoHighLevel funnel or website. Add a Custom Code (HTML) element and paste the Famewall embed code. Famewall's step by step guide on adding testimonials to GoHighLevel shows every click.
  7. Place proof where decisions happen. Put testimonials beside the booking calendar, the pricing section and the main call to action as it otherwise would be buried in a separate testimonials page nobody visits.

The proof setup to run for every client

GoHighLevel sends every customer a review request. Famewall collects testimonials and puts the best on the site.

On Famewall's Standard plan and above, webhooks and Zapier let a new testimonial trigger a GoHighLevel workflow, for example tagging the contact as a promoter or sending a thank you.

Selling it as a monthly service

Reviews and testimonials together make an easy retainer to sell, because the client can see the result every time they open Google or their own site.

Our reputation management guide suggests 3 tiers that agencies commonly charge: $99 to $149 a month for basic review management, $199 to $299 for growth, and $399 to $499 for premium. Adding a live testimonial wall is a natural way to justify the top 2 tiers.

The costs stay low. GoHighLevel's reputation tools come with each sub-account (Reviews AI is billed on usage or as an add-on), and one Famewall Agency plan at $149 a month covers every client. A single client on the Growth tier more than pays for it.

FAQ

Can GoHighLevel collect video testimonials?

Yes. The Video Testimonials tab in Reputation sends a collector link by email, SMS or WhatsApp. Videos can run up to 2 minutes 30 seconds and display in a review widget.

Can I add Famewall testimonials to a GoHighLevel funnel?

Yes. Add a Custom Code (HTML) element to the page and paste the Famewall embed code. It works on GoHighLevel websites and funnels.

Should testimonials replace Google reviews?

No. Reviews help the client rank and look credible on Google. Testimonials convert the visitors who land on the site. Most clients need both.

Is it fine to only ask happy clients for testimonials?

For testimonials on the client's own site, yes, you choose what to show. For Google reviews, no. Send the request to every customer, because Google bans selectively asking for positive reviews.

Is Famewall free?

There is a free plan with 10 testimonials, 1 published wall and 1 video testimonial. Paid plans start at $15 a month ($149 a year), and the Agency plan is $149 a month ($1,499 a year).
