“Your brand is what other people say about you when you are not in the room.” These were the words of Jeff Bezos, founder of Amazon, and I can totally relate to them as a business owner.

What people say about your product or service matters.

In fact, research indicates that a product with 5 reviews is 270% more likely to be purchased than one without reviews.

Products with five reviews convert better

These stats prove that a simple customer opinion can either build trust and attract more customers or push them away.

Unfortunately, not so many businesses understand the importance of reviews.

For this reason, I will share 6 review examples, each from a different sector, and what I like about them.

After reading this post, you’ll challenge yourself to collect more reviews for your business.

6 Review Examples (+ Replies)

Example 1: Hotel

For our first review example, we will focus on a hotel example.

Let’s say you're planning a trip or vacation.

You would probably check out some hotels near your destination and read what others have said about their experiences.

Their reviews would help you decide where to book.

Likewise a YouTuber named FaZa Rug decided to spend 24 hours in a nearby hotel.

In a surprising turn of events, it was one of the worst experiences of his life. He documented his experience on his Youtube channel as a video

That video currently has about 8 million views.

It wouldn’t surprise me if that hotel is out of business today.

People go to hotels for various reasons, and the average customer usually reviews things like the room comfort, customer service, cleanliness, and location.

As an example, let’s take this review from Neal T, who visited Broadway Plaza Hotel in New York City.

He and his family had a pleasant experience, so they left 5 stars for everything.

It included the rooms, cleanliness, sleep quality, service, and more.

The hotel's response was pretty good too. They thanked the customer, expressed their hope to have them back, and wished them a wonderful day.

What I Like About This Review Example

What I like about this review is that the customer included a helpful room tip based on their experience. This could make the stays of future guests more memorable.

Example 2: Software Company

Now let's have a look at another review example

In 2000, Nike lost over $100 million in sales due to the installation of faulty software that caused numerous system glitches.

Unfortunately, this led to a 20% drop in Nike's stock price.

Many businesses have learned a lot from that experience.

It is common practice to use reviews to make informed decisions about a tool you are considering.

I read reviews about tools because I want to know if they are user-friendly, have bugs, or have helpful customer support.

I’d like to know about the features, pricing, and perhaps, the platform's reliability.

In other words, I need to read other users' experiences and decide if it’s worth it.

Coming across many positive reviews about the tool, for instance, will instantly build a layer of trust.

That way, you know that others have tried and tested the tool with little to no complaints. This often brings you a step closer to becoming a customer.

For our next example, we will look at Slack, a Software Company with over 34,000 reviews on G2. It offers a communication app which employees use to post messages & converse with each other

Slack holds users reviews on G2

Dhaval G., a Senior Quality Analyst, wrote this about Slack: “Easy and Smooth connecting Team Application” and gave it a 4.5-star rating.

You can put these reviews to work and attract customers.

For instance, one of the best review management software, Famewall, connects with platforms like G2 and Trustpilot.

It then allows you to import these reviews and showcase them on your website with a native experience and builds trust with customers.

What I Like About This Review Example

I love the authenticity of the review. This Slack user mentioned "Integrations" as the first reason he likes Slack, and even listed a few platforms.

But he didn’t stop there. He also mentioned one minor thing that troubled him when using Slack. That’s useful information to Slack since it could help them improve their software.

Example 3: Restaurant

Research shows that 90% of consumers read online reviews before visiting a business.

Most consumers read reviews before businesses

Consumers check many things before going to places like restaurants.

When reading online reviews, they pay close attention to details like food quality, service speed, staff, ambience, and portion size.

I will use my own experience as an example.

I recently went to eat in a restaurant just because 5 people had talked about it in detail on the internet. I read what they wrote and saw the images attached to their reviews.

That’s all it took to convince me to dine there.

This is exactly how most people behave. They quickly research other people’s opinions and experiences before picking the perfect spot.

Interestingly, this was the case for Anwei Chai as well. This reviewer visited "The Modern", a restaurant in NYC, to celebrate birthday.

According to them, everything was perfect: 5/5 for the food, 5/5 for the service, and 5/5 for the atmosphere.

The owner of this restaurant couldn’t help but thank the customer for that review.

I particularly like this review because the customer shared in detail how the staff carefully introduced each item on the menu and even provided suggestions.

The customer even added pictures to confirm they had a great experience.

Example 4: Freelancers and agencies

Let’s discuss one more review example for online businesses.

Freelancers and agencies always try their best to maintain their reputation because they understand that a good review means higher chances of getting more clients.

Likewise, a negative review can affect their brand and earnings.

Online platforms like Fiverr or Upwork have many freelancers.

On such platforms, the more and the better the reviews, the higher the recommendations.

For example, I found a freelance video editor, Lahcen, who has worked for over 1000 clients.

I was reading some client reviews and stumbled upon one from Jeroen_ml.

This client stated that Lahcen helped them tremendously and that they were happy with the result. Due to this, Lahcen was given a 5-star rating.

The freelancer’s reply was right on point, and I loved it! He expressed his pleasure to have worked with them and appreciated the trust throughout the process.

I liked the client's honesty. They mentioned that the freelancer helped them create a video editing style they will use for future videos, while guiding them through the process like a true professional.

Example 5: Real Estate

Real estate is next on our list of review examples.

You might agree that selling a house successfully is a big deal. As such, you can’t be quick to trust anybody who claims to be a real estate agent.

When it comes to real estate, clients usually review a variety of factors like the agent’s responsiveness, transparency, negotiation skills, support and knowledge.

Potential clients often want to know if the agent knows their job, how helpful they are, and, most importantly, how many people have recommended their services.

To illustrate my thoughts, I will check out "Ideal Agent", a real estate agency located in the USA with over 6,000 reviews on Trustpilot.

Ideal agent rated 5 stars from 6394 reviews

A client named Marc Pizzutiello gave the agency a five-star rating for the support he received from the real estate agent Romina.

He was able to sell his house within two hours and said many good things about the agent.

But the agency’s response was equally outstanding. They thanked the client and mentioned how thrilled they were that their agent had delivered such a great performance.

I was impressed with the client's excitement and positive remarks about the agent. He appreciated that the agent was extremely knowledgeable and had the personality he was looking for.

Example 6: Fashion and Apparel

Did you know that Fashion Nova, an online fashion retailer, was accused of hiding negative reviews and ordered to pay nearly $2.4 million in a settlement?

I believe they made that risky decision because they knew customer reviews significantly influenced purchasing decisions, and negative reviews would affect their sales.

Again, it is illegal to hide negative reviews. Therefore, you must ensure that you deliver good customer service and use a testimonial app wherever possible to collect good reviews.

In the fashion sector, customers are most likely to review the material quality, fit, size accuracy, delivery speed, product appearance, etc.

Failure to meet such requirements might result in a bad review.

Lemafer Store, an Amazon-owned online fashion store with over 3000 ratings, sells women's shirts well.

Lori Cooper is one of the customers who left a positive review on the quality of the fabric.

According to her, the shirt she purchased was very comfortable and of great value.

What I like most is that she tried the shirt on, took a few pictures, and posted them along with the review.

She explained the quality of that shirt and then recommended it to others.
