According to statistics shared by G2 in a webinar, 85% of consumers consider reviews that are more than 3 months old irrelevant.

Stat about old reviews being irrelevant

This data shows something important: people want to view the latest reviews to know how your new customers feel about your product.

A 2020 or 2024 review might not have the same big impact in 2025.

Plus, showing new reviews proves that people continue to trust you by signing up.

Your marketing team must collect more G2 reviews to increase sales and revenue.

If you want to get more G2 reviews and become like Slack, you're right on track.

3 Ways to Get More G2 Reviews

1. Ask at the Right Time

You need to choose the best time to ask for a G2 review.

I'm not talking about sending a review request email at 10 A.M. or on Wednesdays.

Tips like that are useless and don't usually work, as they can vary for every business.

Instead, you'll get more G2 reviews if you ask them when the client has an emotional high with your product or service.

For a SaaS product, for example, request a review right after onboarding a user and their team, especially if it's an enterprise.

You likely contacted them and offered a free trial. They loved it and decided to move their team to your product.

The client is excited and is very involved. That's the best time to ask for a review.

Also, reach out to customers who get a ‘win’ with your product, renew their subscription, or leave a high NPS score.

That's when users are most likely to say something nice (and they very much mean it).

G2's success team wrote a webinar recap they held in 2024, titled "G2's Greatest Review Collection Strategy Hits."

G2 Webinar about when to request reviews

They recommend asking for G2 reviews:

  • After implementation
  • During webinars or events
  • On your sign-on screen
  • After a support ticket has been closed
  • In your team’s email signature
  • Through a customer newsletter

The webinar itself recommended additional moments, like:

  • At renewal or QBRs
  • Following an NPS/CSAT response
  • In-product pop-ups
  • Through your partner networks.

2. Offer Ethical Incentives (Follow G2 Guidelines)

G2 allows you to offer incentives (usually gift cards) to all customers who leave reviews, regardless of the reviews being positive or negative.

This means you can't ask for a positive review or offer incentives only to people likely to say something good.

Aside from gift cards, you can also offer charitable donations, and the ability to bring your own non-profit (BYONP).

G2 guideline for incentives

G2 itself offers incentives to encourage reviews.

Moreover, they offer gift card options for rewarding reviewers based on their countries.

G2 Gift cards when asking for reviews

Once again, you can't offer rewards and ask clients to leave a positive review.

So, pay attention to how you frame the request.

This, for example, is a good approach:

“We are reaching out to our most important users to share their experience with our product on G2, and we made sure to contact you. As a thank-you for your time, we are offering a $25 gift card to the first 20 people who submit their review. Your honest thoughts would mean a lot to us.”

But this doesn't mean you can choose who you will contact.

Ask active users, happy customers, and people who recently gave you a high NPS score. I always prioritize quality over quantity.

After implementing the tips in this article, you will be able to collect hundreds of reviews on G2.

However, prospects who visit your company website will not see them.

They will not read that word or sentence that will crush doubts and convert them into paid customers.

That's why we created Famewall.

You can select the G2 reviews you want to showcase on your website, and display them using the widgets.

3. Make It Easy to Leave a Review

The top 1% marketers know this simple truth: friction kills reviews.

And it doesn’t matter how loyal a user is.

If leaving feedback feels like work, they’ll bail.

That’s why I always tell marketing teams to make the process stupidly easy.

Add review requests everywhere: website footer, thank-you pages, post-support surveys, or follow-up emails after milestones.

Always test what works because where and how you ask matters more than you think.

Don't just say “Leave us a review” in your request emails.

Give them a direct G2 link or add a button.

Add a review request button in your email

Even better, create a short landing page explaining how customers can leave a review in a couple of steps.

I've also noticed that we marketers think everyone knows G2. It's so popular that there is no way someone doesn't know it.

Does that mean they also know Capterra, Software Advice, Trustpilot, TrustRadius, or GetApp?

We cannot assume our customers know the review sites we are sending them to.

Also, remember that they need to create an account before reviewing your product, and people don't like creating unnecessary accounts.

That's why you can use a testimonial collection software that doesn't require any sign in. Because that way you'd also own the reviews in your own platform instead of renting it from review sites like G2

But in case you do opt for the review sites, just make sure that users don't have to Google the platform to know if it's legit and won't sell their personal information.

You are wasting their time, and they will give up before starting.

In their guide about requesting a Review Campaign, G2 wrote a sample email that their outreach team uses.

What caught my attention was the 3-line explanation about G2.

It created trust by mentioning 60 million professionals who share their opinions on the software they use.

Tell customers about G2 when requesting reviews

Add a similar text in your email or landing page bridge. The easier the process, the higher the conversion.

Get More G2 Reviews to Increase Sales and Revenue

I wrote this article because G2 is one of my favorite review sites for SaaS products.

I also did a lot of research to find G2 articles and videos in order to provide accurate information.

Now, you know how to get hundreds of reviews. Ask at the right time, offer incentives, and make it easy to leave feedback.

I can share additional tips, like running a review campaign with G2 specialists and responding to reviews to show that you care.

Also promote your G2 presence. Add banners on your website, newsletters, social media platforms, and customer onboarding emails.

Make people remember you every time they see the SaaS review site.

Your ultimate target is to have these beautiful stars on your website to build trust and use that to make more revenue.
